Inner Child Healing Through Hypnosis: Giving Your Younger Self What It Never Got
At some point in your life, probably when you were very young, something happened. Maybe it was one moment. Maybe it was an atmosphere, a pattern, a way your family was. And in response to that thing, a younger version of you made some decisions.
Those decisions made sense then. They were survival strategies: ways of staying safe, of keeping love, of not rocking the boat. A child who learned that love was conditional figured out how to perform. A child who was told they were too much learned to make themselves smaller. A child who grew up with chaos figured out how to be invisible or how to be hypervigilant or how to need nothing from anyone.
Those strategies worked. They got you through.
But you're not a child anymore, and the strategies are still running.
The rules that outlived their purpose
You may not even know where some of your patterns come from. You just know that you react a certain way in certain situations, something in you shuts down, or flares up, or retreats, in ways that don't always make logical sense to your adult self. You know you shouldn't need that much reassurance. You know you don't have to people-please your way through every interaction. You know the relationship is safe. And still the old part of you does what it always did.
That's not dysfunction. That's loyalty. Your psyche's deep loyalty to the strategies that once kept you safe.
The work isn't to criticize that younger part of you for doing what it did. It isn't to analyze it to death, either. The work is to go back and actually be with that part of yourself, to give it something it didn't get the first time. Safety. Reassurance. The knowledge that things turned out okay, that you made it, that you don't need to keep standing guard.
Why this kind of healing needs more than understanding
You can understand your childhood with perfect clarity, read every book, do years of therapy, trace every pattern back to its source, and still find that some things just won't shift. There's a reason for that.
Understanding happens in the thinking mind. But the wound didn't happen in the thinking mind. It happened in the body, in the nervous system, in the part of you that was too young to think your way through it. That part learned by feeling, not by reasoning. And that part doesn't update on new information the way your logical mind does.
To reach it, you need to go where it lives.
Hypnosis creates a deeply relaxed, inwardly focused state that lets you move past the thinking mind and reach the subconscious directly: the part that holds the old feelings, the old decisions, the version of you that's still watching and waiting.
In that state, we can go back. Not to relive the wound, but to complete something that wasn't finished. To bring your adult self into the scene with the child who needed someone. To offer what wasn't offered then.
What this looks like in a session
This kind of work can be tender. You may feel things you haven't let yourself feel in a long time. That's not a problem. It's the point. Emotions that finally move through you're emotions that are finally releasing.
I hold this kind of work with a lot of care. Every session starts with a real conversation about what you're carrying. I don't use a script. I build the hypnosis experience around what you bring in: the specific patterns, the specific younger self we're working with, the specific thing that part of you needs to hear.
I also combine this work with Reiki and crystal healing. The energy work matters here, because the body holds what the mind has suppressed. Reiki helps clear the energetic residue of old wounds, and specific crystals support the nervous system in staying open to healing rather than defended against it. Together, these create something deeper than any single modality could on its own.
Sessions are available in person in Lexington, South Carolina, and virtually for clients all over the world. The full integrated session is $144. Hypnosis alone is $111.
You were always doing the best you could
One of the most healing things a person can come to understand is that they were always doing the best they could with the information they had at the time. The younger you didn't choose those strategies out of weakness. They chose them out of intelligence and love and an enormous will to survive.
They deserve to hear that.
And they deserve to finally feel safe enough to let some of those strategies go.
If you're ready to do that work, I'd be honored to be part of it. You've been carrying this long enough. It's okay to put some of it down.
